NuWest Travel Nursing is seeking a travel nurse RN ED - Emergency Department for a travel nursing job in Puyallup, Washington.
General Information: Puyallup, WA Level III Trauma Center Beds: 375 Licensed Beds Beds: 46 (5 Safe Psych rooms; Fast Track is 4 hallway and 1 room) Avg 200 patients per day. Experience: 2 years of ED experience First-time traveler: Yes Patient Types: Patient types from peds to geriatrics: Trauma, GSW, sepsis, COVID, STEMI (large amount), Stroke, DKA, mental health, respiratory issues, geriatric, Adult Psych, Stroke (TNK), high acuity medical High geriatric population (falls, STEMI) Does not do any invasive neuro - no craniotomies Small amount of pediatrics. Generally transfer to Mary Bridge Patient Ratios: Day - 1:4 Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS, CPI/MOAB Skills Required: General ED experience: Cardiac rhythm interpretation, IV skills, and basic ED knowledge of drips and med administration Procedural sedation, blood administration, TNK administration (preferred), cardiac medications Support on the Unit: ER tech– glucose checks, iStat, assisting with splinting Charge nurse: rarely takes assignment Resource/Float Nurse RT -24/7 ED Educator Security increased for safety 24/7, assigned to ED House Supervisor 24/7 Social Work Services assigned to ED 24/7 Pharmacy 24/7: pushes sedation medications and assists in codes Charting System/Equipment: Epic Alaris Pyxis Central and bedside Telemetry monitoring at the nursing station; no tele tech Floating: None Orientation: 1st day: NEO (badge, EPIC training if needed), meet with educator, hrs in mental health area, hrs out front 2nd day: 12-hr shift with preceptor (on assigned shift) Traveler Telemetry Competency Required Required to be completed and passed prior to start. SimpliFi Compliance is responsible for grading this exam. Scheduling: Shifts: Day 0700-1900 Night 1900-0700 Mid: 1100-2300(day/mids) or 1500-0300 (mids/night) If day/mid or night/mid– may switch during contract but would be notified in advance. Mid/Night submissions will predominately be night shift (1900-0700) Weekend rotation – Every other Schedule is made 3 weeks at a time Can we approve time off: NM to Approve RTO No on-call Holiday Expectations: 2 of 5 major (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, NYE, New Years Day) Other notes: Scrub Color: Any scrub colors, as long it is professional Piercings – modest/studs only, Tattoos- not offensive Parking: Free parking in designated areas Culture: Traveler friendly- many travelers extend.
