Job Summary:

Metalforms Heat Transfer is a full-service partner for supplying standard and specialized proprietary equipment to refineries, chemical companies, and other industrial facilities around the world. We own the brands BROWN FINTUBE®, TWISTED TUBE®, ALCO® & BOS-HATTEN®.

We are seeking a Thermal Design Engineer with expertise in heat exchanger design and optimization. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and validating heat transfer solutions for various applications, ensuring optimal thermal performance and efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in thermal engineering principles, with a focus on heat transfer technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and Development: Design heat transfer equipment that includes conventional shell and tube heat exchangers and specialized exchangers, ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer specifications.
  • Thermal Analysis & Quotation: Assume overall ownership and responsibility for generation of competitive thermal designs, review and compliance to customer's technical specifications, and generation of accurate, competitive cost estimates to allow preparation and issuance of timely and accurate quotations.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with mechanical, manufacturing, and project teams to ensure that all pertinent details of quotation activities are adequately documented for seamless job execution.
  • Technical Documentation: Prepare detailed thermal datasheets, design reports and technical specifications review, for heat transfer equipment
  • Continuous Improvement: Research and implement best practices and new technologies for company product portfolio.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve field performance issues related to heat exchanger thermal performance.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical engineering. Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Experience: Must have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in thermal design and sales support with a focus on heat transfer equipment.
  • Software Proficiency: Experience with HTRI rating software and PV Elite (or other mechanical design software) is preferred
  • Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of heat transfer principles, fluid mechanics, and thermal design strategies specific to heat exchangers.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and a methodical approach to design challenges.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of presenting complex information clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations (e.g., ASME, TEMA, API, HEI).
