The Life Skills Trainer plays a vital role in empowering individuals with disabilities to achieve greater independence and enhance their quality of life. Duties

• Provide direct support to individuals with disabilities, assisting them in daily living activities.
• Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive behaviors and reduce challenging behaviors.
• Work collaboratively with clients who have autism and other developmental disabilities to enhance their social skills and communication.
• Develop personalized training plans that cater to the unique needs of each individual.
• Engage clients in activities that promote self-sufficiency, including budgeting, cooking, and personal hygiene.
• Maintain accurate records of client progress and collect research data to evaluate the effectiveness of training programs.
• Collaborate with families, caregivers, and other professionals to ensure a holistic approach to client care.
• Provide support in childcare settings when necessary, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for all children involved.

Qualifications

• Experience in direct support roles or caregiving for individuals with disabilities is preferred.
• Background in social work or special education is a plus.
• Familiarity with behavior management techniques and strategies for working with individuals on the autism spectrum.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with clients and their families.
• Ability to conduct research data collection and analyze findings for program improvement.
