Pride Health is hiring a Medical Laboratory Scientist to support our client’s medical facility based in Shelton CT 06484.

Location: Shelton CT 06484

Job Type: 03-06+ Months - W2 contract - with possible extension

Schedule: – 8 am-5 am, Tuesday through Saturday (40 hours/week)

Pay Range: $25- $40/hr

(Offered pay rate will be based on education, experience, and healthcare credentials.)

Responsibilities:

• Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining records of patient test results.
• Maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
• Analyse specimens using approved testing procedures (see department SOPs).
• Review and release test results.
• Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines as described in their respective guidelines.
• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria. Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
• Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality. Maintaining the bench assigned to you. Including but not limited to maintenance, and quality control. Knowledge of specimen integrity and releasing of critical results

Education:

• BS in Medical Technology preferred; or BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, or associate degree in a Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, or Previously qualified as a Technologist
• National certification as an MT / MLT from a recognized organization (ASCP or AMT).

Work Experience:

• 1 year of Clinical experience (high complexity testing) is preferred. Minimum of 1 year of clinical laboratory experience in highly complex testing for those with BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology. National and State licensure as required.

Special Requirements:

• Must have the ability to establish work priorities and handle several procedures simultaneously.
• Must interact with other departments.
• Contact with clients may be required, good customer service skills are important.
• Must protect patient confidentiality at all times.

Additional Job Details:

• MUST HAVE FLOW CYTOMETRY EXPERIENCE TO BE CONSIDERED
• Experience with manual sample preparation including micro pipetting and cell washing as this is a bench-level position.
• Experience handling multiple samples in a batch while maintaining specimen integrity and identity.
• Ability to multi-task efficiently.
• Hands-on experience with flow cytometry.
