Summary/Objective In keeping with our organization’s goal of improving the lives of the residents we serve, the Administrator provides overall direction for all activities related to administration, personnel, physical structure, information systems, office management and marketing of the entire facility. The Administrator works closely with all members of the management team and others to ensure their responsibilities are effectively and consistently discharged. The Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the facility and ensuring all facility operations are in compliance with federal, state and local regulations.

1. Develops and implements facility policies and procedures that comply with Federal, State and local regulations.
2. Hires, monitors and directs the activities of several departments within the facility.
3. Represents the facility in executive level meetings and reports on the facility’s performance.
4. Develop and implement annual operating budget that meets the needs of the facility.
5. Review and report on the financial health of the facility. Take necessary action to make sure the facility meets set budgetary goals while being compliant with government regulations and providing quality care to Guests.
6. Participates in Federal, State and Local agency annual surveys.
7. Review with appropriate department heads any deficiencies noted by government agencies during inspections.
8. Develop and implement a plan of correction with the assistance of appropriate department head for any deficiency found by a government agency and forward the plan to appropriate governing board.
9. Act as a liaison with the governing body, outside medical professionals, nursing staff, and other professional and supervisory staff through regular meetings and periodic reporting.
10. Prepare and forward timely reports such as staffing, census and etc. to proper authorities and governing boards.
11. Assist with the recruitment and retention of staff for all departments within the facility.
12. Ensure that appropriate staffing levels are maintained at all times to meet governing requirements and Guest needs.
13. Completes annual performance reviews of all subordinate staff. Provides guidance and education to staff in regard to their performance.
14. Provides counseling and disciplinary action to subordinate staff members as needed.
15. Ensures that all resident complaints/concerns are addressed timely and works with appropriate department heads for a resolution.
16. Reports all hazardous conditions, damaged equipment and supply issues to appropriate persons. Assists appropriate department heads with development and implementation of infection control procedures.
17. Assure that established infection control and standard precaution practices are maintained at all times. Follow established safety precautions when preforming tasks and using equipment and supplies.
18. Maintains the comfort, privacy and dignity of Guests and interacts with them in a manner that displays warmth, respect and promotes a caring environment.
19. Communicates and interacts effectively and tactfully with Guests, visitors, families, peers and supervisors.
20. Answers and responds to call lights promptly and courteously when working in resident care areas.
Supervisory Responsibility This position is directly responsible for leading all department managers and indirectly responsible for all employees within the facility.
Work Environment
This job operates in a health care setting. This role requires regular walking to various locations around the facility. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
This role may also come into contact with residents who may have contagious illnesses.
Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This position is part of a health care facility that is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Evening and weekend work as well as holiday and work during inclement weather will be required.
Travel to and from other locations will be required.
Required Education and Experience
· Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare Management or related field.
· Previous experience in a Manager or Director role in a healthcare setting.
· Knowledge of Federal, State and Local regulations.
Preferred Education and Experience
· Current State License as Nursing Home Administrator
· Knowledge of Joint commission policy and procedures.
· Knowledge of IDPH regulations and procedures.
· Two years of related experience.
