Job Description

Our client, a full-service logistics company, is seeking a Senior Freight Broker for a full-time opportunity in Charleston, SC. Candidates must be local to Charleston as this role will require onsite training before moving to a hybrid schedule.

As a Freight Broker, you are responsible for identifying freight transport opportunities and building client relationships. This sales role will promote and deliver services in accordance with established policies and procedures while pursuing company goals and objectives.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Use independent judgement and discretion to determine which shippers have freight transport opportunities, which lanes to quote, which loads to accept, as well was what price to quote customers and what margin to earn.
  • Establish, maintain, and improve shipper relationships.
  • Make calls to shippers daily.
  • Coordinate with Operations and other departments to track loads.
  • Quote shippers and provide up-to-date information.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with shippers.
  • Collaborate with coworkers in a team-oriented environment.
  • Maintain up-to-date awareness of company activities, industry trends, and government regulations.
  • Travel to client, customer, carrier, and/or prospect sites, as needed.
  • Completes required training.
  • Perform other related duties assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • 2-5 years of freight broker or logistics sales experience required.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common industry documents and reports.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, and basic arithmetic.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Strong Microsoft Office proficiency. Salesforce experience helpful.

Note: Local travel may be required. Out-of-state travel is limited, but may be required for special training/conferences.

Base Salary: $70k plus uncapped commission structure. Final determination will be based on an evaluation of experience, education, budget, etc.
