Job Description
The Feed Ingredient Purchasing Planner is based in our Goldsboro, NC location and works closely with various department personnel. Daily tasks include the procurement and payment of feed ingredient goods and services. This role is responsible for developing and executing purchase requests for multiple feed mills by monitoring inventories, projecting ingredient needs, obtaining price quotes from suppliers, and computer entry of order data. Responsibilities include contacting suppliers to schedule truck and rail deliveries, monitoring active shipments including problem resolution due to shortages and delays.
Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities:
Will work closely with feed mill personnel to monitor weekly ingredient usage and inventory to ensure that proper raw materials are ordered for production planning purposes.
Monitors daily inventory levels to identify feed mill and purchasing needs.
Contact vendor and prepare purchase order based on projected ingredient need.
Match supplier invoices and liaise with AP to ensure timely payment of vendor invoices.
Provide contract/receipt/payment related issue resolution, both internal and external.
Pull and file PO, shipment, receipt, and payment paperwork as needed.
Work closely with feed mill staff to track orders to ensure timely delivery including problem resolution with provider for inbound trucks, rail and transload.
Enter and maintain purchasing data in computer systems.
Follow-up with suppliers, as needed, to confirm pricing and scheduling changes.
Assist Vendors with the vendor approval/registration process.
Be able to work weekends and holidays in rotation as needed.
Be able to receive cellphone calls after hours as needed.
Participate in month end reconciliation and annual audits.
Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Education and Experience
Associate level degree in business or accounting, or equivalent professional experience, with a level of knowledge that includes work experience, alternative education, and/or training certification.
At least three to five years of experience in purchasing/procurement, AP, or AR.
Clerical and/or Purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment is desired.
Good understanding of supply chain procedures.
Effective computer, internet, and telephone skills.
Experience with SAP, MTech or similar systems.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
