Well established and growing Contractor specializing in Civil/Military and large Commercial projects, working in new construction and renovation is looking for a Project Manager due to the growth of the company.

This is in office role, with occasional visits to project sites, mostly local.

Must have commercial construction government contracting experience working with NAVFAC and/or Army Corps for consideration. Strong job tenure desired.
Must be local within 1 hour of Newport News, no relocation candidates.

Well established and growing Civil/Government and Commercial Contractor is looking for a dedicated Project Manager with Civil Experience. This role requires an individual who is proficient in managing complex projects, possesses a strong understanding of safety compliance, blueprint reading, construction management, and quality control. With 7+ years of relevant experience, the ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget, while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.

Responsibilities:

1. Oversee and direct construction projects from conception to completion while ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
2. Review and interpret project blueprints, plans, and other documentation to understand the scope and objectives of each project.
3. Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and deadlines, ensuring all projects are delivered on time and within budget.
4. Coordinate and manage the efforts of all team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan.
5. Implement quality control programs, ensuring all work meets or exceeds the set standards and specifications.
6. Prepare comprehensive project status reports for management, client, or others, detailing costs, schedule changes, and other essential elements.
7. Manage and mitigate project risks, identifying potential problems before they occur and planning effective responses.
8. Foster relationships with clients, vendors, and internal teams, ensuring clear communication and collaboration across all project stages.
9. Conduct site inspections to ensure adherence to engineering standards and specifications.
10. Implement and manage project changes and interventions to achieve project outputs.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent work experience.
2. Minimum of 5+ years of project management experience within the construction industry.
3. Proven experience in safety compliance, blueprint reading, construction management, and quality control.
4. Knowledge of building products, construction details, and relevant rules, regulations, and quality standards.
5. Strong understanding of construction procedures and material and project management principles.
6. Proficient in project management software.
7. Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
8. Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
9. Ability to multitask and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
10. Strong problem-solving abilities and a keen eye for detail.
11. Professional Project Management (PPM) certification is a plus.
