or baking, especially breads, and have a keen eye for detail. You will also spend time, cleaning dishes, pans and workspace, and various team-shared tasks. 1+ year experience in a bakery or restaurant is required. Knowledge and experience of baking breads commercially or at home is a must. You must have excellent organizational and communication skills, and you should be able to join a joyful environment of cooperation and teamwork.
This position will report to the Bakery Owner/Manager. This position will be a flex position with 10-20 hours of work, pending on the amount of baking needed. Shifts consist of Wednesdays and Fridays, 6:30am-2:30pm, with a potential of other days added.
Responsibilities:
- Baking products such as sandwich breads, rolls, baguettes, bagels, cinnamon rolls, pretzel bites and sweet breads
- Preparing doughs by weighing ingredients
- Shaping various bread types (sandwich, rolls, baguettes, bagels, cinnamon rolls, pretzel bites)
- Boiling bagels and pretzel bites
- Monitoring various oven temperatures
- Ensuring proper baking times
- Following recipes accurately
- Clean dishes, pans, and workspace
- Keep workspace and bakery organized and efficient
- Interact with Owner/Manager, fellow staff members and customers kindly
- Occasionally assist customers
Qualifications:
1+ years of professional bakery or restaurant experience is required. Knowledge and experience with bread baking required. The ideal candidate will also demonstrate:
- Experience and knowledge with bread dough and shaping various bread types, gluten free bread baking knowledge is a plus
- Ability to follow recipes accurately and make adjustments when needed
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
- Excellent organizational skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Positive attitude and desire to be part of a fun and friendly team
- Capacity to build personal relationships of trust and respect with owners, manager, colleagues, and customers
- A strong work ethic, humble manner, and demonstrated willingness to go above and beyond when necessary
- Ability to interact with customers positively
- A desire and ability to effectively contribute to bakery culture and value practical wisdom, excellence, integrity, hard work, and conviviality
Part of the interview process will include a Stage (an opportunity in our bakery to show us your baking skills by using one or some of our recipes).
